A study by the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers has found out that the United States can make somewhere around $52 billion if online gambling, including the online casinos, are made legal in the country and the government begins to collect taxes from them. The accounting firm also confirms that despite the hard times for the online casinos in the past year, due to the though payment processing, online gambling in the United States has increased over 20% in the last year alone. PricewaterhouseCoopers suggests that if online gambling is legalized in the United States, the country stands to gain $52 billion in taxes over the next 10 years.
Currently the online casinos are having difficult time processing payments, due to the anti-online gambling bill passed in the late '06, which made it illegal for U.S. banks to process money to and from the online gambling companies. But judging from the report by the accounting firm, the 20+% increase of online gambling in the past year is clear indication that people will continue to frequent the online casinos in the future, as well, despite the hardships the honest online casinos could be experienced.
